December 2000: S&R presents at the Primavera User Conference

November 2000: S&R conducts seminar for the American Consulting Engineers Council of Georgia

S&R will present “Project Management: Old dog, new tricks” for the American Consulting Engineers Council of Georgia (ACEC/G) on November 11, 2000. The seminar will be part of PDH Saturday, a continuing education event that allows members to attend technical and managerial courses while earning up to 8 Professional Development Hours (PDHs).

Project Management has been around for decades, and while the basic principles remain the same, the profession has moved in striking new directions in recent years. This seminar will:
  • review the elements and phases of project management, as described in the Project Management Body Knowledge of Knowledge (PMBOK)
  • discuss the latest tools and techniques
  • take a look at project management at work in a variety of projects
  • provide a wealth of references and resources for continuing project management education

September 2000: S&R donates computer to Booker T. Washington High School Vocational Construction Training Program

Less than a mile from the high-profile Georgia World Congress Center Phase IV Expansion project in downtown Atlanta is a high school construction program that just might have some young people who will help build the city in the years to come.   That’s what the team of Hardin Russell Mitchell (HRM) and the Construction Education Foundation of Georgia (CEFGA) are thinking as they forge a new partnership with the construction program at Booker T. Washington High School. 

The collaboration between HRM, CEFGA and Booker T. Washington High School will provide a first hand opportunity to expose students to a large construction project in their community (Vine City and English Avenue).  The partnership is expected to include guest speakers/educators, job-site tours of the Georgia World Congress Center and other downtown projects, and job placement for graduates of Booker T. Washington High School.

S&R is proud to have donated a laptop computer to the program and is looking forward to participating in the guest speakers/educators forum.

February 2000: S&R facilitates Project Management Office for OpenLink Financial, Inc.

S&R facilitated the development and implementation of a Project Management Office at this rapidly growing software company.  After reviewing existing processes and procedures, and conducting a series of interviews and meetings with key personnel, S&R developed a phased implementation plan that would bring standardized project management processes and tools to the entire organization, from in-house projects to external projects to customer support.

November 1999: Ahlstrom selects S&R for Project Management Support

After responding quickly and effectively to Ahlstrom’s request for short term scheduling support, S&R was asked in March, 2000 to provide long term project management support for this strategic client.  As an integral member of the newly formed Andritz-Ahlstrom Corporation, S&R is now providing financial and cost management services, in addition to planning and scheduling support.

S&R is proud to be selected once again to be a guest speaker at the Annual Primavera User Conference. We invite you to join Mr. Lee Bernstein on Saturday, September 25, 1999 for "Lists! Lists! Everywhere a List! Tracking Issues at Los Alamos National Laboratory".

In this presentation, the author will explain how S&R implemented a single system for tracking issues and actions by using RemedyŽ to combine the multitude of independent lists and Primavera project files. He will also discuss the details of the Web-based system, the concerns that were addressed for transferring Primavera data, the process being used today, and how this solution could be easily implemented across any corporation.

August 1999: S&R establishes planning framework for Builders / Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta (FRBA)

S&R was retained by BTMI Builders to establish a planning framework for the Construction Management of the new Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta (FRBA) complex in midtown Atlanta.  The site will be home to a 700,000-square-foot facility that will include a cash vault, office tower, operations center and parking.  S&R configured Primavera Project Planner and SureTrak Project Manager to integrate the work scope and resources of over 30 trade contractors.

May 1999: S&R provides Primavera consulting to Beers Construction Company / DHL Worldwide Express

S&R is supporting Beers Construction Company in the development and deployment of a program plan for the new DHL Worldwide Express hub at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. The project contains the facilities necessary to receive, unload, sort reload and deploy parcels, letters, small parcels, and heavyweight material from the United States and most world locations.

Beers Construction Company is a subsidiary of Skanska. Skanska is one of the world’s largest companies in construction-related services and project and property development. Skanska has operations in some 50 countries, with "domestic" markets in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and the United States.

February 1999: S&R provides SureTrak consulting to Davis & Associates

S&R is supporting Davis & Associates, Inc. as they implement SureTrak Project Manager for all of their corporate and project scheduling needs. Beginning with the Radioactive Liquid Waste Treatment Facility & Tank Replacement Project at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, Davis & Associates/S&R will develop standards and templates for coding, reporting, resource definition, cost management, and multi-project integration.

S&R is a member of the Lockwood Greene Technologies team tasked with developing the new technical, cost and schedule baselines for the upgrade of the Chemistry, Metallurgical and Research (CMR) facility at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. The team will conduct walkdowns, develop the Programmatic Requirements Document (PRD), and upgrade conceptual engineering data, schematics, estimates, and schedules to reflect the revised mission of the facility.

July 1998: S&R awarded contract with Nextel

S&R will provide management consulting, project controls, financial management and system design/implementation for the deployment of 1650 digital communications sites over the next three years. This $500 million fast track program will be managed from eight project offices and will require daily communication of performance data to two corporate offices.

May 1998: S&R develops Demonstration Projects for Primavera

S&R has been retained by Primavera Systems, Inc. to develop demonstration projects for the new release of their high end, high performance software, Primavera Project Planner for the Enterprise (P3e). S&R's Telecommunications Project and Capital Improvement Program demonstrate how new features, such as project hierarchies, resource breakdown structures, portfolios, and increased coding capabilities, would be implemented in the real world. October 1997: Los Alamos awards Project Controls contract to S&R

The Chemistry, Metallurgical and Research (CMR) facility at the Los Alamos National Laboratory is an active operating facility that is undergoing $174 million of upgrades to ensure continued safe operations. S&R is providing a senior consultant to serve as a member of the new management team, and project controls and financial management staff to provide ongoing project support services. In addition, project management support is being provided to the facility management to assist with ongoing operations.
